The Bulletin
of the Russian Philosophical Society, N1 (13), 2000.
The Bulletin ¹ 1 (13), 2000, has been published and distributed among the readers nowadays. (Chief editor – professor Chumakov A.N., executive secretary – professor Yaroschuk N.Z.).
There is published the information on the session of the Presidium of the Russian Philosophical Society, that has taken place on February, 3,2000, in Moscow, where the following decisions have been accepted:
1.To nominate the academician Stepin V.S. as the President of the RPhS (with the subsequent confirmation of this nomination by the members of the RPhS on their general meeting).
2.To approve the scientific and organizational activity of the society in 1999 and its plans for 2000.
3.To ratify the budget of the society for 2000.
4.To carry out the Third Russian Philosophical Congress in Rostov-on-Don (September,16-20,2000). The theme of the Congress: “Rationalism and Culture on the Threshold of the III Millennium”.
The known philosophers and the leading specialists in different fields of philosophical knowledge are suggested to make applications and offers for reports as well as for the organization of the round tables, symposiums, discussions within the framework of the Congress – to the address of the RPhS (121002, Moscow, Smolenski boulevard, 20).
January 28, 2000. The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation has re-registrated the Russian Philosophical society as the All-Russian public scientific organization according to the current legislation. The certificate on the re-registration and the new Charter of the RPhS is published in this number of the Bulletin.
The Bulletin continues to publish the materials of the Russian Philosophical Congress II(1999,Ekaterinburg): the plenary reports of the director of the Institute of philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences academician Stepin V.S. “Search of new values and strategy of development of Russia” and of the dean of the philosophical faculty of the Ural state University professor Pertsov A.E. (Ekaterinburg) “Philosophy as a Cheerful science”, as well as other materials of the congress participants.
Under the heading “The topic of the day” in the bulletins N3 and N4 the debatable articles of professor Krushanov A.A. were published. In the given number the discussion was supported by professor Nikiforov A.L., who expressed his opinion about the future
of philosophy.
Under the heading “On the urgent problems” there is published the article of professor Fedotova V.G. “Traditional spiritual values and the development of Russia” as the response to the decision of the Ministry of education to include the specialty “Theology” into the list of the subjects for the preparation of bachelors and masters and into the list of specialties for the preparation of the graduate experts. In the article the negative attitude to the given innovation is motivated.
The member of the RPhS, doctor of philosophy M.Sergeiev (Philadelphia,USA) publishes an article "The Capital of terrible court: polemic notes to the Moscow metaphysics”. Besides there are articles of Russian philosophers under the same heading “By way of discussion”: “Principles of validity”, “Some aspects of the paradigm of the research of spiritual problems”, “The Critical remarks to the basic problem of philosophy”, “The Dialectical philosophy”.
The polemic of the readers from St.Petersburg about the correlation of astrology and science is stated.
The Bulletin N1, 2000 informs about the activity of the branches of RPhS, about scientific conferences, symposiums, carried out in the Bashkir, Nizhniy Novgorod, Saratov branches of RPhS.
Under the headings “A Note for the philosopher” and “The Useful information” various materials about the nearest conferences, discussions and other measures, representing interest for the philosophical public, has been placed; about the work of the Publishing Council of RPhS; about philosophical periodicals, that have been published, about the initiative of the Global Dialogue Institute {Philadelphia, USA) to organize the Centre of deep dialogue – of critical thinking and the task to develop the intercultural dialogue, between America and Russia in particular.
There are also reviews to the new books of the RPhS members, informations on the new books in philosophy, information on the defense of the doctor and candidate dissertations on philosophy during the first quarter of 2000.
The Bulletin informs the readers about the forthcoming publication of the fundamental philosophical edition – “New philosophical Encyclopedia”
– of 4 volumes, more than 5000 copies.
